Britney Spears Is Reportedly Claiming That Her Father Is Attempting To Extort Money From Her Ahead Of His Possible Removal As Conservator

This new development comes after Jamie said he would only step down from the conservatorship role “when the time is right.” He added that the “transition needs to be orderly and include a resolution of matters pending before the Court.”

Britney Spears’ conservatorship struggle is still ongoing, with the singer attempting to not only remove her father Jamie Spears from his post as conservator, but also to terminate the court-approved arrangement entirely. Britney just engaged a new lawyer, Matthew Rosengart, and there has been a fresh development in the case. Jamie is apparently attempting to extort his daughter ahead of his possible expulsion, according to TMZ. According to legal documents obtained by the tabloid, the singer’s father is seeking roughly $2 million.

Jamie expects to pay his lawyers and former business manager Tri Star with some of the money, according to TMZ. Britney’s lawyer, on the other side, is enraged by Jamie’s alleged behavior and expressed his displeasure in court records. A statement from Rosengart states, “The existing quo is no longer tolerable, and Britney Spears will not be extorted.” Instead of seeking to pay his way out, Jamie’s team is demanding that he step down from his conservatorship. Should he refuse to resign, she says the court should suspend him from the conservatorship beginning September 29.

This new development comes after Jamie said he would only step down from the conservatorship role “when the time is right.” He added that the “transition needs to be orderly and include a resolution of matters pending before the Court.”
