McDonald’s McFlurry machines across the country have been out of service for what feels like an eternity—and things have gotten so bad that the Federal Trade Commission has initiated a thorough inquiry. According to recent reports, the Federal Trade Commission is currently investigating why McDonald’s McFlurry machines rarely work and has delivered a clear message to the popular fast food restaurant. The Federal Trade Commission appears to be as fed up as the rest of us with McDonald’s McFlurry machines frequently breaking, and it now wants answers.
According to @TMZ TV, the Federal Trade Commission has initiated an investigation into why McFlurry machines rarely work when consumers purchase the restaurant’s ice cream delight. The machines’ problem is said to be that they are extremely difficult to operate and even more difficult to clean. Although nightly automated heat-cleaning is required to remove bacteria, if that cleaning cycle fails, the McFlurry machines cannot be used until a technician arrives to repair them. A letter was sent to all McDonald’s franchises earlier this summer advising them of the process, now that the FTC has formally stepped in to examine the issue.
The FDA also wants to know how McDonald’s evaluates all of its suppliers and equipment, particularly the McFlurry machines. You may recall that problems with the machines have gotten so out of hand that a website called “McBroken” shows all of the broken McFlurry machines in your area—and the site is updated on a regular basis due to the machines rarely working. McDonald’s has yet to make a public statement about the FTC probe
