The LOX, which comprises of Yonkers rappers Jadakiss, Styles P, and Sheek Louch, began their run with an incredible performance during a Verzuz clash versus Dipset last month. People were impressed by the group’s presentation, particularly Jadakiss, who was dubbed “the show’s star” by many. The LOX made an unexpected appearance on a track we now know as “Jesus Lord Pt. 2” during Kanye West’s second listening party for Donda shortly after. 2.” Jadakiss discussed how that song came together in a recent interview with HipHopDX.
“A representative from ‘Ye’s crew reached out to my older son,” the rapper revealed. “After Verzuz, ‘Ye called us the next day, and he hit me the next morning. We flew directly to Atlanta’s Mercedes-Benz Stadium and went right to the studio to finish the song. Then I left and rested before returning the next day to attend the event and fly back.”
The LOX were given the key to their hometown of Yonkers by the city’s mayor, Mike Spano, shortly after their Verzuz against Dipset. Spano declared during the key ceremony, “We recognize LOX.” “We’re going to hand it over to you. He doesn’t require it. He can go wherever he wants, but this will corroborate everything.”
