Music festivals are back in full swing, and Big Ears, a Tennessee festival, is planning a return in 2022 after postponing its 2020 and 2021 editions. Big Ears is set to make a spectacular comeback, inviting over 100 acts to perform across more than a dozen locations.
Big Ears 2022 will begin in early spring, with events taking place in Knoxville from March 24 to 27. Andy Shauf, Animal Collective, Moses Sumney, Kim Gordon, Sparks, Yves Tumor, Preservation Hall Jazz Band, Low, Mdou Moctar, Sudan Archives, William Tyler, Cassandra Jenkins, and many more will perform at the festival, which will be announced on Tuesday.

Big Ear’s aim is to “engage with artists, audiences, and communities to create joyous and transcendent cultural experiences that challenge boundaries, fuel curiosity, ignite the spirit, and nurture the soul,” according to the roster announcement. Instead of occupying a single enormous park or arena, Big Ears is dispersed across downtown Knoxville, performing in historic theaters, clubs, and unusual alternative performance locations all within walking distance of one another.
