Ovlov, a cult favorite from Connecticut, is back with a new album. Ovlov made a memorable comeback in 2018 with TRU, their first album in five years. Steve Hartlett, the bandleader, has since released another album under the Stove alias. Now, Ovlov is reuniting with a new album, Buds, slated to be released in November. The news is accompanied by the release of the lead single, “Land Of Steve-O,” an exuberant, impatient piece with persistent drumming and crisp guitar solos.
What Hartlett had to say about “Land Of Steve-O” is as follows.
“I wrote this song after having a foolish dispute with my father in the vehicle, and after we got home, I decided to go for a walk, but ended up going for about 2 hours and stopping to sit on a bench by the police station in Newtown, CT, where my parents raised me and where I still live today. I texted my buddy Steve-O, with whom I had been spending a lot of time at the time. Basically, whenever I felt like hanging out with someone, whether I needed someone to confide in or just wanted to relax, Steve-O was always up for it.
He’s been an extremely important and close friend of mine since we met in the 6th grade when basically we both wrote down that Papa Roach was our favorite band on a personality questionnaire our teacher wrote for us in order to more easily make friends with the weirdos from all the other elementary school. The song is basically just about how good a guy I think Steve-O is.”
