In their latest single “Yoko,” D.E.L. provides a chill groove that can make you sway and think. The lyrics are simple but the sincerity in it is enough to make it feel heartfelt.
“Teach me how to feel alive / Show me what it feels like / When it’s only you and I / You can make me feel alive / So teach me how to feel alive,” goes the lyrics over a techno-infused electronic pop beat.
According to the trio Yoko is not named after the famed creative Yoko Ono but “after a character from an anime which helped us get through our childhood.”
“This track is heavily inspired by a moment in time, where it feels your whole world is crumbling yet you still have the person you love by your side,” he said. “Yoko was made with the intent of being upbeat yet thoughtful and provoking.” [My guess is that it’s Yoko Littner from the anime Gurren Laggan, who (among others) inspires the protagonist to “pierce the heavens.”]
And just like Gurren Laggan’s Yoko, D.E.L.’s “Yoko” feels like it could inspire someone too. Listen to “Yoko” below.
