Common released A Beautiful Revolution, Pt. 1 at the end of last year, which featured nine tracks and guest performances from Stevie Wonder, Lenny Kravitz, PJ, and others. A Beautiful Revolution, Pt. 2 was released less than a year later, featuring 11 tracks and features from Brittany Howard, PJ, Marcus King, and others. He’s now back with a new video for “When We Move.”
It shows Common, as well as Black Thought and Seun Kuti, who both appear in the song, partying the night away on a dance floor while the funky melody plays in the background. As images of significant periods in Black history play, Common raps, “I’m a simply give black power its flowers / Whether in the projects or in the palace.” “We retained the balance even as the pale horse tried to gallop / And stirred it up, stirred it up.”
The new video comes after he, Black Thought, and Seun Kuti performed the song on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. He also shared a video for “Imagine,” which captured his optimistic vision for the future.
