Don Toliver, a rapper from Houston, has had an interesting two years. While the majority of the entertainment industry was shut down due to the COVID-19 epidemic, the Cactus Jack Records signee toiled away, capitalizing on the momentum he’d gained since appearing on his mentor Travis Scott’s 2018 album Astroworld. In addition to appearing on Eminem’s “No Regrets” in early 2020, Toliver released his debut album Heaven Or Hell, which was followed by appearances on projects by Nav, Kaash Paige, Nas, and Rico Nasty, the F9 soundtrack, and Gunna’s Internet Money blockbuster “Lemonade.”
Now, with the release of his second album, Life Of A Don, he’ll be able to put all of that hard work to good use. Toliver eventually revealed the release date, October 8, with a spectacular teaser depicting a couple of ballroom dancers onstage in an empty, elegantly outfitted auditorium, after teasing the project on Twitter earlier this year.
In addition to the trailer, Toliver has teased the future release with a handful of singles including “What You Need,” “Drugs N Hella Melodies” with Kali Uchis, and “Don’t Go” with Justin Bieber and Skrillex. He’s currently on tour through October 30 with BIA, which means fans on the back end of the tour may well get the opportunity to hear the new album live after its release.
