For fans, fresh live performances by the band have retained a mythological aura since their preemptive breakup and final gig at Madison Square Garden in 2011. Even while there have been plenty of opportunities for even casual music listeners to see them live ten years later — thanks to a handful of festival appearances and a new record – a year in lockdown has brought the thrill back to live gigs in a fresh way.
So a series of new Instagram and Twitter posts from venues like Music Hall Of Williamsburg, Terminal 5, and Brooklyn Steel teasing the band’s label DFA Records’ signature lightning bolt logo is enough to get their many acolytes back in gear for another run of limited shows is enough to get them back in gear for another run of limited shows. LCD is large enough to fill Madison Square Garden and headline festivals, so a venue like Music Hall Of Williamsburg, or even T5, would be an underplay for them.
