A time that seemed inconceivable only two years ago has finally arrived. Tom Brady returned to Gillette Stadium in Foxboro as a member of a team other than the New England Patriots for the first time in his 22-year NFL career. This week, Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers faced up against his former team on Sunday Night Football, and even if it wasn’t the only game on TV at the time, every football fan’s attention would be drawn to the duel between Brady and Bill Belichick.
It’s the only football game that’s been spoken about for the past week or so, so it’s no surprise that NBC went all-out for the event. In addition to the game’s aforementioned time slot and the amount of buzz around it, the network enlisted Adele’s help in its pregame promo, using the song “Hello” to welcome Brady back to his old haunts.
Brady’s long record of accomplishments with the Patriots has been well-documented, but he and Belichick are most known for winning six Super Bowls together in New England. He’s already one-sixth of the way there in Tampa, where the Bucs won the Lombardi Trophy last season.
