Dakota Johnson had a little but crucial role in Ellen’s phony public persona’s demise.
The Suspiria actress was questioned by presenter Ellen DeGeneres during a 2019 interview on The Ellen DeGeneres Show for not being invited to her 30th birthday celebration. “Actually, no. Ellen, that is not the case. Johnson argued, “You were invited.” “You gave me a bunch of crap about not inviting you last year when I was on the program, but I didn’t even know you wanted to be invited. “I had no idea you liked me!” She went on to say that Tig Notaro was her favorite comedian, which elicited groans from the audience:
As it turns out, Ellen believes she is to blame for Dakota’s decision to avoid Tig. The comic admitted, “Tig is hilarious.” “However, you first saw her at my birthday party, so I’m assuming I introduced you to her.” Except… Dakota said, “I had left your birthday celebration before that happened.” “This isn’t going good at all!”
It was inconvenient. It was fantastic. Johnson is supported by Drew Barrymore.
“People have gotten in trouble for claiming they weren’t invited to your parties,” Barrymore said on her eponymous talk program on Thursday, referring to the Ellen incident. “By the way, that was incredible. “It’s incredible.” Johnson’s response was as follows:
That’s a laugh of someone with no regrets.
