Adele’s song is likely to break records when it is released. The lead single “Hello” from her 2015 album 25, is an example of this. The song went to No. 1 in 102 countries on iTunes when it was released, setting a new record. When BTS’s “Blac Swan” reached No. 1 in 105 countries, they broke the record. Adele is back in action six years later, with the release of “Easy On Me,” the lead song from her upcoming album 30, and to no one’s surprise, the singer is back to smashing records.
With “Easy On Me,” Adele reportedly set a new record for the fastest song to reach No. 1 on the iTunes US list. According to the Twitter account @chartdata, which provides weekly Billboard chart updates and frequently reports on unusual events on other music charts, “Easy On Me” broke the record by reaching No. 1 in under three minutes. Ariana Grande held the previous record for this feat, with her song “Positions” reaching No. 1 on the US iTunes charts in under ten minutes. The new record has yet to be confirmed by iTunes or Apple.
Adele eventually confirmed that 30 would be the title of her new album and that it would be released on November 19 with the release of “Easy On Me.” She characterized the upcoming release as a dear friend to her “throughout the most challenging moment” of her life in a message she shared on social media. “I’ve painstakingly rebuilt my house and my heart since then, and this album narrates it,” she wrote at the end of the statement. “The heart is where the home is x.”
