Recently, Jack White has been full of surprises. White, who is known for being old-fashioned, decided to get into NFTs in April. Then he went ahead and flaunted his new blue-haired look this summer. White’s most recent surprise move is “Taking Me Back,” his first solo song since 2018.
As shown in a new Call Of Duty: Vanguard trailer, the guitar-driven rocker is firmly in White’s wheelhouse, if not his technological one. White recorded the song at his Nashville studio, Third Man Studios, and rather than using a band, he recorded all of the vocals and instruments himself.
White has also produced “Taking Me Back (Gently),” which has pared back instruments and a jaunty rhythm for those who want a milder version of the song.
Meanwhile, when White debuted his blue hair in July, it was to promote his new website, which showcases his art and design work rather than his dyed locks. White is “an interdisciplinary artist, equally as conversant in sculpture and upholstery as he is in music and songwriting,” according to the site’s About page.
