After releasing two promising singles (“Last” and “Ours”), Louise Aubrie followed up with a stellar 10-track album, Antonio.
The upbeat album kicks of with the upbeat single “Ours,” before bringing the “Bang.” The second track is a fun track fit for a soundtrack of a femme fatale. “He knows he’s lucky to have her with her legs up to the sky,” she sings about a woman who wears “red lipstick” and “knows what makes him tick.” The third track, “Home,” slows things down before picking up with “Last,” which could be the title track if it were named after the album. “Where is Antonio?” she questions in the cheeky song.
The rest of the album proves to be enjoyable with upbeat songs before ending with the sleuth-like track “Lies.”
The entire album is inspired by a line in Belgian singer Jacques Brel’s 1966 song “La Chason De Jacky” : “Même si on m’appelle Antonio” or “My name would be Antonio.” Listen to the album below.
