In Tokyo, Japan, a guy costumed as the Joker went on a spree, stabbing train passengers at random near Kukuroyo station.

According to witnesses, the 24-year-old male sprayed a clear substance in the subway vehicle and set fire to it, forcing passengers to panic and escape. Moments after, he began stabbing other passengers as they attempted to flee the vehicle, and the Tokyo Police Department said in a statement that the attack harmed 17 individuals, three of whom were critically hurt.

The suspect told police during his detention that he wanted to “murder people so he could be condemned to death,” and a witness said that the incident was a Halloween stunt because of his costume.
