Britney Spears is now free! It’s been a long time coming, but she’s finally free! Her conservatorship, according to CNN, ended today after 13 years. During a hearing earlier this month, Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Brenda Penny terminated the court-ordered agreement. After being governed by her former conservator father, Jamie Spears, Britney now has the ability to take control of her personal life and profession. As we previously reported, Jamie was suspended as Britney’s conservator in September after holding the position since 2008. He supervised his daughter’s estate and had a lot of power over her personal and professional life as conservator.
Britney’s lawyer, Mathew Rosengart, addressed the court during the hearing, indicating that a safety net would be in place for the pop star’s money and personal care. Judge Penny indicated that her assets would now be transferred from her temporary conservator to her trust. According to reports, Judge Penny did not require Britney to undergo a medical examination. Although Britney did not attend the hearing, it is believed that no one protested to the decision. Fans gathered outside the courtroom, waving pink “Free Britney” flags and clutching banners, waiting for the verdict.
Fans weren’t the only ones who showed their support. Sam Asghari, her fiancé, also expressed his support by posting a solid pink square on Instagram with the phrase “FREEDOM” and the remark, “History was made today. Britney Spears is no longer in prison! “Britney also expressed her delight at the decision by posting a photo on Instagram in which over 20k people congratulated her on her win. “I can’t frickin believe it!!!!” she captioned a selfie of herself wearing a yellow dress and tussling her hair. Again, the happiest day of my life!!!! According to the judge, Britney is set to return to court on December 8th and January 19th to discuss a motion for substituted judgment.
