After cutting Henry Ruggs III following his arrest for DUI resulting in death, the Raiders signed DeSean Jackson after he was released by the Rams with the hopes of providing a vertical threat to their attack.
After hauling in a deep pass from Derek Carr and shedding his defender on Sunday night against the Chiefs, we saw why Jackson was picked up by the Raiders. He popped the top on the Kansas City defense and appeared to have at the very least a big play, if not a touchdown, after hauling in a deep pass from Derek Carr and shedding his defender. However, Jackson made some strange moves after that, such as rushing away from the end zone in an attempt to elude a Chiefs defender, which resulted in the football being punched out and recovered by the Chiefs.
The still photos of the play seem particularly ugly, but Jackson was probably going to get ran down if he continued on his current path; nevertheless, cutting back across the field rather than at an angle was a complete puzzle. Fans on Twitter, predictably, had plenty of jokes and commentary about Jackson’s pretty regrettable lapse in judgment.
From then, the Raiders saw the Chiefs pull away, with Jackson throwing away a red zone opportunity down 10 proving costly — but providing some laughs for non-Raiders fans along the way.
