Activision Blizzard CEO Bobby Kotick is under pressure to leave after a story from the Wall Street Journal indicated he knew considerably more about the claims swirling about many of the company’s subsidiaries, as well as certain allegations leveled towards Kotick.
Employees at the corporation have been calling for Kotick’s immediate resignation or removal since the report’s release. To underline their demand for Kotick’s removal, employees staged a walkout. So far, Activision and Kotick have chosen to dig in and try to maintain him in his CEO position. This hasn’t deterred staff, who have started a petition demanding Kotick’s dismissal.
Via the Washington Post:
“We, the undersigned, no longer have confidence in the leadership of Bobby Kotick as the CEO of Activision Blizzard. The information that has come to light about his behaviors and practices in the running of our companies runs counter to the culture and integrity we require of our leadership — and directly conflicts with the initiatives started by our peers,” the letter says.
The petition is being circulated at the same time that outside pressure on Kotick to resign grows. Internal emails from the heads of PlayStation and Xbox have expressed their disgust with Activision and Kotick’s response to the allegations. Kotick was chastised in both emails, which referred to the Wall Street Journal report.
