Britney Spears’ conservatorship came to an end last month after 13 years, and the singer has spent the last week celebrating her newfound independence. Britney said she “felt like I was on cloud 9 the whole time” after the court order was terminated, and she “felt like I was on cloud 9 the whole time” after a weekend of freedom. In a new Instagram Story post, Britney took a moment to call out fellow 2000s pop star Christina Aguilera for “refusing to speak” about her conservatorship.
Britney posted a video of Aguilera being surrounded by reporters outside the Latin Grammy Awards on Thursday in Las Vegas. “Britney — have you had any communication, have you guys had any communication?” the interviewer asks Aguilera. “We’re not doing that,” Aguilera’s publicist swiftly responds, while Aguilera apologizes to the reporters before continuing, “But I’m really pleased for her!” ”
“I love and adore everyone who supported me … but refusing to speak when you know the truth is equivalent to a lie !!!!” Britney captioned the video of Aguilera on her Instagram Story post. “13 years being in a corrupt abusive system yet why is it such a hard topic for people to talk about ??? I’m the one who went through it !!!! All the supporters who spoke up and supported me thank you … Yes I do matter !!!!!”
Despite this, people pointed out that Aguilera has already spoken about Britney’s conservatorship. In a tweet earlier this year, Aguilera said, “It is intolerable that any woman, or human, wishing to be in control of their own destiny might not be permitted to live life as they desire.” “I guarantee you, she deserves all of the freedom in the world to live her happiest life,” she continued. Britney’s situation breaks my heart. She is deserving of all of the world’s TRUE love and support.”
