The Grammy nominees for 2022 were announced earlier today, and as predicted, they got everyone talking. Some of the show’s 86 awards were nominated by the performers themselves. Others, though, did not. Machine Gun Kelly, whose album Tickets To My Downfall received no nominations, is one among those that didn’t. He rushed to Twitter after the nominees were released to express his feelings, simply stating, “Wtf is wrong with the Grammys.“
My Downfall tickets were issued on September 25, 2021, which comes inside the eligibility window for the forthcoming award ceremony, which is September 1, 2020, to September 30, 2021. Tickets To My Downfall topped the album’s chart after its publication last fall, giving him his first No. 1 album. Kelly’s upcoming album, Born Alongside Horns, with Travis Barker, will give him another opportunity at Grammy gold.
Other musicians benefited greatly from the Grammy nominations for 2022. With 11 nominations, Jon Batiste is the second most nominated artist in the history of the award presentation, trailing only Michael Jackson (12 nominations) and Babyface (12 nominations) in 1984 and 1997, respectively. “WOW!! Afterward, Batiste celebrated the achievement with a tweet. “Glory to God!! I adore EVERYONE! I owe a debt of gratitude to my collaborators and forefathers [sobbing emojis] 11! ”
After Batiste, Justin Bieber, Doja Cat, and HER are tied for second place with eight Grammy nominations for 2022. Following that, Billie Eilish and Olivia Rodrigo received seven votes each.
