Olivia Rodrigo has had a number of big moments this year, without a question. After releasing her debut album, Sour, the singer went on to have a No. 1 album, break multiple chart records, win a slew of awards, be the focus of a Saturday Night Live skit, and even meet President Barack Obama in person. Despite her hectic year, Rodrigo has one milestone that is “particularly noteworthy” to her: he received an astonishing seven Grammy nominations.
Rodrigo’s name was announced many times during the Recording Academy’s full list of 2022 Grammy nominees, which was released on Tuesday. Record Of The Year, Best New Artist, Album Of The Year, Song Of The Year, Best Pop Vocals Album, Best Pop Solo Performance, and Best Music Video are among the awards up for grabs for the artist. Rodrigo reflected on her accomplishments by uploading a photo of a cake with the words “You did it b*tch” on it.
“I awoke to 7 Grammy nominations this morning.” My family used to reside a few blocks from the Staples Center, which hosted the Grammy Awards every year when I was kid. I would usually take a trip outside the arena and gaze in awe at the plaques on the ground that listed all of the winners’ names. I spent a lot of my free weekends at the Grammy Museum because I was interested by the show’s history and all of the wonderful musicians that contributed to it. This year, many dreams have come true for me, but this one is definitely the most significant. Thank you to everyone who has supported and believed in me and the music I’ve written. Thank you for the recognition, @recordingacademy. I’m completely humbled. It was unquestionably a day I will never forget.”
