Secretary of State Marcia Fudge is in charge of the US Department of State. The Department of Housing and Urban Development has made it a priority to focus on policies and initiatives that could potentially address the complicated housing difficulties that underprivileged areas face. As a result, she is assisting senior individuals and low-income families across the United States in securing generational riches.
What should be the top priority for the Black community in terms of housing and building generational wealth?
Today, there is a 30-point disparity in homeownership between Black and White people. It’s the same width now as it was in the 1960s, when HUD was originally implemented. Homeownership is the most common way for people to accumulate wealth. As a result, that is something we have concentrated on. We’re making it easier to acquire help with a down payment and establish credit. We’re assisting folks with student loan debt and attempting to eliminate discrimination in the appraisal process.
