It’s morning. The sun is beginning to peek through the windows. If you have had a good night’s sleep, you are ready to hop up and start your day.
On the other hand, if you did not sleep well, you will be dragging yourself out of the covers wondering how much sleep you actually got. You are trying to figure out how it could be morning already. Getting the proper amount of sleep you need is so important.
What are some reasons you may not be getting good sleep? It could be you are stressed or anxious about something going on in your life. You may not be sleeping well because of what you ate before bed or eating too close to when you go to bed. When looking at a new mattress, consider motion transfer. When your partner gets up in the night, does your old mattress bounce you around, waking you up? If so, that is another reason to get that new mattress. You should be able to roll over, get up, or change positions without it bouncing your partner.
You should also be aware of any substance in the mattress that you might be allergic to. A mattress is made of many materials, and you need to know what materials are safe for you. There should be a label on the mattress that will tell you more about the materials in your mattress.
When you go try out a mattress, you need to give yourself plenty of time to discover if it is the right one for you. Don’t be rushed. Don’t let a salesperson make you feel like you have to hurry. Just tell them you need some time to try out the mattress.
Once you lie down, roll from side to side—check out that motion transfer. Lie on your back and then on your side. Picture what it would be like to sleep on this mattress night after night. If possible, have your sleep partner with you so you can make a joint decision.
