Mayim Bialik’s appearance on Jeopardy! has been confirmed by ABC. It’s going to be a spinoff debut, and it’s coming up soon. The Big Bang Theory star will host Jeopardy! starting February 8th. The National College Championship will be broadcast five times a week till February 22. Submitted by Deadline:
Bialik was one of the guest hosts that stepped in for longtime Jeopardy! host Alex Trebek. Following Mike Richards’ untimely retirement, quizmaster Alex Trebek stepped in as temporary host of the syndie program in August, following his death in 2020. For Jeopardy!, she’ll be on the dais. The National College Championship is held every year. Students from 36 schools and universities in the United States compete from Monday to Thursday, February 8-11 and February 15-18, with the ninth night scheduled for Tuesday, February 22.
While Bialik initially declined to be Alex Trebek’s permanent replacement, she was a fan favorite among not only fans, but also certain crew members, who are still rooting for her to be the next host of Jeopardy! podium. According to accounts, Bialik frequently sends in baked goodies and was a pleasant sight following the upheaval caused by former executive producer Mike Richards, who was forced to resign as Trebek’s successor following the resurfacing of previous inflammatory remarks.
When it came to whether Bialik would take the top post, she began to express interest once things with Richards turned sour. She couldn’t initially fit hosting Jeopardy! into her schedule. In September, she began to show hints that she might be able to make things work.
“There’s no other job I would rather have,” Bialik told Glamour. “I love my sitcom work, I do. I love all the other things I do. I love the podcast. But I absolutely have never had a better job.”
