Last week we unfortunately heard news of Virgil Abloh’s passing. In 2018, he was over the menswear collection of Louis Vuitton, which made him the first black male creative director of a major fashion house. Virgil also created the brand “Off -White”, which became extremely popular in fashion, the black community, and in hip hop. His works included collaborating with Mercedes Benz to create a different take on their G Wagon and the latest Maybach.
Earlier this year Virgil gained more creative responsibilities at LVMH. You can learn more about his career at LVMH here

There was no need to follow fashion to know who Virgil was. If you love music, hip hop in particular, then you’ve most likely seen him hanging out with various artists such as Tyler the Creator and Drake. His best friend, Kanye West made him the head of Donda and also asked him to be the artistic director for the “Watch the Throne ” album with Jay-Z. Virgil was an innovator, a visionary, and definitely ahead of his time. What’s amazing is that his presence felt right on time as well. He was a breath of fresh air.
Virgil’s final Louis Vuitton collection called “Virgil Was Here” was in remembrance of him.
A highlight of the show was Kid Cudi walking the runway, because he also walked in Virgil’s first show as well.
Kanye West, Pharrell, and Offset were seen in attendance also.
So many people loved and admired him. The collection includes the wildly popular Louis Vuitton print featured in bright green, lots of fur, and extremely fashion forward designs. Right in the midst of the show is a 3 story statue of Virgil.
Virgil will alway be remembered for his incredible impact in fashion, music, and technology ! You can check out the show here.
