Jeopardy! is slowly but steadily removing the stain of Mike Richards’ hosting disaster. Amy Schneider, the new champion, continues to win (while also finding time to criticize Republicans after a congressman praised her on her current winning streak), and the two “temporary” hosts, Ken Jennings and Mayim Bialik, have kept the train going smoothly with no drama.
Well, it seems that producers realize that they’ve got a good thing going, and as such, the official Jeopardy! account tweeted that things will stay constant with the two hosts for the time being. “We are delighted to let you know our excellent and experienced team in front of and behind the camera will continue into 2022,” the show tweeted. “@missmayim and @kenjennings will share hosting duties through the end of #Jeopardy! Season 38, and Michael Davies will remain as executive producer.”
As Hollywood Reporter notes, the dual-hosting scenario will carry through much of next summer with new showrunner Michael Davies sticking around, too:
Following the Mike Richards fiasco, Mayim Bialik and Ken Jennings have started splitting hosting duties for Season 38 and will continue to do so until 2022. Sony Pictures Television said on Wednesday that the duo will continue to host the syndicated game show through the end of its current 38th season, which finishes on July 29.
Michael Davies, who has been acting as temporary showrunner since Richards was sacked for choosing himself as the replacement host for the late Alex Trebek, will also stay on until the end of the season.
Seriously, I don’t think Jeopardy! will be able to keep up with this issue. Fans would be furious. You don’t want to upset the apple cart, do you? Mayim can continue to host special editions of the show (including this week’s Professors Tournament) thanks to a split situation, and both she and past champ Jennings remain hugely popular with the show’s audience. Jennings, for one, appears at ease on the hosting podium, with those past tweets proving to be no issue at all. Allow the games to go on.
