For more than a year, Wizkid and Tems have been riding the success of their smash single “Essence.” The song, which appears on the former’s album Made In Lagos, was released in late 2020, and the duo has since taken it to heights few afrobeats tracks have ever reached. “Essence” became the first Nigerian song to rank on the Billboard Hot 100 in just a few months. It would reach the top ten of the charts courtesy to Justin Bieber’s remix, which aided in the song’s popularity. They’ve now taken their abilities to late-night television.
The duo appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon to perform the latest version of their hit tune. They were dressed immaculately for the performance, which took place on a large concert platform with blue and purple lighting.
Last week, Wizkid invited Tems to join the stage alongside him at London’s O2 arena in front of a large crowd, and they performed their updated version of the song.
Following their appearance on The Tonight Show, Wizkid and Tems have signed up to perform at Portugal’s Afronation event next summer. Burna Boy, Megan Thee Stallion, Ckay, Koffee, Rema, Tekno, and more will join them.
