As is customary, social media has been enamored with Jorts the Cat, a new feline hero. (For the record, the cat pictured above is not Jorts, but he does have a smooth cowboy bravado that we think Jorts would approve of.) Jorts became famous after a viral Reddit post called “Am I The Asshole” told a wild story about ethnic stereotypes, a random cat buttering, and a downright heroic conversion of anti-vaxxers. There’s absolutely everything in it.
Jorts and Jean are two office kitties who are clearly liked in the original poster’s office, in a nutshell. However, one of the staff, Pam, is a touch too fond of one of the cats, Jorts, and has expressed concern over the ginger cat’s incapacity to open doors. Pam devised ways to educate Jorts how to open doors until the OP remarked, “Yes, Jorts is a little dumb, but it’s not a huge concern.” Pam was not pleased with this. courtesy of Reddit:
She began to cry and exited the corridor, after which she sent an email to the group (which included volunteers) and returned home early.
Pam claims I’m “perpetuating ethnic prejudices by suggesting orange cats are dumb” in her email, and she demands racial sensitivity training before she returns. Pam is a white person among a predominantly multicultural workforce (and no, she is not ginger/does not have red hair). I don’t think it matters, but just in case.
From there, things just get crazier. The OP adds in a funny post that HR had to correct Pam, but that’s when an important information was discovered. Pam had apparently been slathering margarine on Jorts’ fur in an attempt to persuade him to groom himself better. Jean, on the other hand, got diarrhea as a result of it.
On top of that, five staff were refusing to comply with the building’s vaccination policy. Four of them, though, got the jab after realizing that they wouldn’t be able to visit Jorts and Jean.
Folks, the internet stans a hero.
