Many rappers enjoy getting into the festive spirit and celebrating Christmas. What’s more hip-hop than showcasing your affluence while giving back to the community? But arguably no one has done a better job of delivering a holiday-themed rap video than NLE Choppa’s “Drop Sh*t.” Bryson Lashun Potts, a Memphis rapper, is a “ratchet santa,” doling out gifts and adorning his tree with money and firearms – no one can say he didn’t lean into the role. He’s already been known to shower gifts on pals, as shown in his video for “Mmm Hmm,” and he’s made a few notable friends along the way, like 50 Cent, whose show, Power, NLE just contributed to the theme song for — alongside Rileyy Lanez.
NLE was just another young rapper from Tennessee until last year, when he broke out with viral successes like “Shotta Flow” and “Camelot.” He hasn’t slowed down since then, releasing the Cottonwood EP in early 2020 and a succession of further collaborations and one-off tracks throughout 2021. This festive event could be the icing on the cake for him after a breakout year.
