Scream, the ambiguously titled fifth installment in the Scream franchise (and the first without director Wes Craven, who died in 2015), is set to release on January 14 in North America. That’s all for today. You should probably skip the trailer above if you already know you’re going to see the film over the weekend. It’s preferable if you walk in with as little knowledge as possible.
But if you’re still hesitant, whether it’s because you’re nervous about going to the movies (fair) or because you’re only interested in Matthew Lillard-starred Scream films (fair), press the play button. Enjoy Ghostface’s use of a flamethrower as well.
The official plot summary is as follows:
Almost twenty-five years after the calm hamlet of Woodsboro was rocked by a string of terrible murders, a new killer has worn the Ghostface mask and is targeting a group of teens in order to resurrect secrets from the town’s murderous past. Neve Campbell (“Sidney Prescott”), Courteney Cox (“Gale Weathers”) and David Arquette (“Dewey Riley”) return to their iconic roles in Scream alongside Melissa Barrera, Kyle Gallner, Mason Gooding, Mikey Madison, Dylan Minnette, Jenna Ortega, Jack Quaid, Marley Shelton, Jasmin Savoy Brown, and Sonia Ammar.
Scream (I’m still not mad it’s 5ream) is directed by Ready or Not‘s Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, and it’s apparently a damn good time.
