Justin Johnson, a Memphis rapper and the prime suspect in the shooting death of Young Dolph, was apprehended in Indiana nearly two months after the event, according to TMZ. Johnson was the second person detained in connection with the shooting; 32-year-old Cornelius Smith had earlier been arrested in connection with a separate incident involving the same white car that was believed to be Dolph’s getaway vehicle. U.S. Marshal Tyreece Miller reported that a third suspect has been detained during a press conference on Wednesday.
Shundale Barnett, 27, was arrested when he was discovered in the same automobile as Johnson and charged with being an after-the-fact accessory to first-degree murder after he was found. Miller explained that after receiving over 500 leads, law enforcement agencies offered a $15,000 reward for information leading to an arrest in the case. After implementing these recommendations, the United States In search of their suspect, marshals traveled to Indianapolis, Dallas, Houston, Atlanta, and Hampton, Virginia.
“It’s a big deal,” Miller said. “We’re proud of the work that everybody you see standing up here has done and even some that you don’t see.” He added, “There are a lot of unseen heroes that participated in the case … I think we are the best of the best. We get results and today’s announcement demonstrates that.”
Johnson is charged with first-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder, and property theft ranging from $10,000 to $60,000 dollars. Smith had already been charged with a number of crimes, including first-degree murder.
