On Monday, a Michigan court chastised a 72-year-old man after he told her he couldn’t keep up with his yard maintenance because his cancer treatments left him weak.
Burhan Chowdhury, of Hamtramck, Michigan, can be heard struggling to breathe in a video posted on Twitter as he clarifies his predicament to 31st District Judge Alexis G. Krot.
Krot could be heard stating on the video, “You should be ashamed of yourself.” “I would send you to prison if I could. “Do you see that photo? Krot inquired. “It’s a disgrace.” Shameful. That should not be seen to the neighbors.”
His father was diagnosed with lymph node cancer in 2019, according to Shibbir Chowdhury, who told The Washington Post.
“She was telling my sick father that he should be imprisoned.” That is absurd, he told The Post. “You can’t put a 72-year-old in jail for failing to clean an alley.”
“I was taken aback by it. In this situation, I didn’t anticipate her to yell at us,” he added.
However, Shibbir Chowdhury agreed to pay the charge on behalf of his father while also receiving a lot of good support from the community.
This is a circumstance that can happen to someone who is old or unwell, he explained.
