Aries Marquis’s new album “Experience,” gives a similar vibe to early 2000s R&B. Think:
Although what the song lacks in Marquis’s voice, it makes up for with swoony lyrics as he croons that he “could jump across the ocean” for his love interest. Things come together in the next song, “Nikki,” though, which may be the strongest track. Marquis’s voice is smoother and the lyrics are sophisticated making this the song radio-ready. The layers of Marquis’s voice during the hook are just *chef’s kiss* as well.
The rest of the album is enjoyable as well with dashes of Usher’s “Love in this Club” vibes with a hint of Prince.
“I named this album, Experience, for two reasons: one, is because I have gained a lot of experience in this music industry to be able to say, with honesty, that I have made improvements as an artist, and two, this album is another project based on true experiences that I’ve lived, and choose to write about. After all, my music is not written just for entertainment, but as life lessons that many can relate to, and learn from,” said Marquis in a press statement.
