Many women may be angry when they find out their man has a side chick, but Lauren G is providing a different perspective in her new song “Main Focus.”
In the video, a man wakes up next to a woman in a hotel, takes money out of her wallet, and leaves. Later the woman awakes to find the money gone and the man she has named “Eddy My Boo” isn’t answering the phone. On the other hand, he seems to be having a cute date night (and possibly spending that money) with Lauren G.
“See while he’s playing with you / He been with me / ‘Cause you ain’t about nothing / While I’m ’bout something,” she sings while later boasting that he gives her “whatever I want.”
In the melodic yet bouncy song, Lauren G captures both the joys of being the “main focus” of a romantic interest even when he sleeps (and steals) from other women on the side with her smooth, deep vocals.
“I find inspiration all around me. I make my music representative of myself and feminism, in all aspects. Everything I speak is my truth. My main goal is to inspire people through my lyrics, especially women,” said Lauren G in a statement to the press.
