The Met Gala Celebrates The Style of Black People

The first Monday in May is a very anticipated time of the year. It’s the day of the Met Gala, a fashionable charity event to help keep the museum doors open. We wait on the edge of our seats every year to find out the theme. This year is much different, because we’re finding out almost a year in advance. The theme for 2025 will be “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style” the focus is on celebrating the history of fashion in the black community. You can look forward to seeing Black Dandy being explored, peacocking, and black designers. Anna Wintour will still be the chair; however, the co-chairs will be ASAP Rocky, Coleman Domingo, Lewis Hamilton, and Pharrell Williams, with Lebron James as honorary chair.

This Met Gala will not only be exciting, it will be a proud moment for black people and black designers. Black designers are not often celebrated as much as others in the industry. The night will examine and express the importance of clothing, style, and identity. I would love to see Laquan Smith, Brandon Blackwood, and Romeo Hunte…just for starters. Who are you looking forward to seeing?
