Prime Video is assembling a powerhouse cast for its forthcoming limited series The Greatest, which chronicles the life of Muhammad Ali. The latest addition is Michael Ealy, who will take on the pivotal role of Malcolm X.
Ealy joins the ensemble in a recurring capacity, bringing his nuanced acting skills to depict the influential civil rights leader. Also joining the cast is Kai Parham, who will portray Rudy Clay, Muhammad Ali’s brother.
Previously announced cast members include Jaalen Best as Muhammad Ali, Omari Hardwick as Cassius “Cash” Clay Sr., Dana Gourrier as Odessa “Bird” Clay, and Amin Joseph as Sonny Liston.
The Greatest marks the first authorized series delving into Ali’s life and career. The series aims to provide an intimate exploration of Ali, focusing not only on his legendary victories and defeats in the ring but also on the personal moments that defined him as a man, husband, father, brother, and son.
The series is executive produced by Michael B. Jordan through his production company, Outlier Society. Ben Watkins of Blue Monday serves as showrunner and executive producer. Other executive producers include Elizabeth Raposo (Outlier Society), Lonnie Ali (Ali’s widow), Jay-Z’s Roc Nation, Marc Rosen, Corey Salter, Matthew Gross, Michele Anthony, Boyd Muir, and Josh Wakely of Grace: A Storytelling Company. David Blackman of Polygram serves as co-executive producer, with Stefano Agosto overseeing for Outlier Society.
