The group triumphed over nine other nominees, including Taylor Swift’s popular track “Elizabeth Taylor”. During their heartfelt acceptance speech, the members thanked their devoted fanbase, the ARMY, for their unwavering support throughout their journey. Group member RM reflected on the creative pressure behind the song, sharing that the group wanted to make music that felt true to who they are as artists.
Meanwhile, member V left fans inspired with a simple but memorable message: “To keep swimming.” The night proved to be a massive success for BTS overall, as the group swept all three categories they were nominated in. Alongside Song of the Summer, BTS also took home Artist of the Year and Best Male K-Pop Artist, further solidifying their dominance on the global music stage.
