Summer in New Orleans just got a whole lot more exciting. The 2026 ESSENCE Festival of Culture has unveiled its first wave of performers for the annual celebration at the Caesars Superdome, and the lineup is stacking up to be one of the strongest in recent memory.
Leading the initial announcement are Cardi B, Kehlani, Patti LaBelle, Latto, Brandy, and Monica. The combination of names pulls from multiple generations of Black music excellence, bringing together Grammy-winning legends and current hitmakers under one roof for a three-night celebration running from July 3 to July 5.
The pairing of Brandy and Monica on the same festival bill is guaranteed to send longtime fans into a frenzy. The two R&B superstars, whose dynamic relationship has been one of the most talked-about in the genre’s history, sharing the same event is a booking worth the price of admission on its own. Patti LaBelle’s presence adds true icon status to the lineup, as one of the most celebrated voices in the entire history of Black music.
Cardi B, who also leads the 2026 BET Awards performer lineup, is clearly having a moment as the summer’s go-to booking. Her energy on a festival stage is unmatched, and her appearance at ESSENCE continues a tradition of the festival securing the biggest name in hip-hop for its main stage experience.
Kehlani and Latto round out an already impressive first wave, bringing contrasting but complementary energies: Kehlani with her emotionally rich R&B style and Latto with the assertive Southern rap presence that has made her one of the most prominent voices in the current wave of female MCs.
Three-day packages are available now, with additional daytime programming at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center also expected to be announced. Additional performers beyond the initial wave have not yet been revealed, but given the strength of the first announcement, the full ESSENCE Festival 2026 lineup is shaping up to be one worth the trip to New Orleans.
