LeBron is finally speaking out against those rumors that were saying that the reason behind he and the Cavs failures in the playoff series against the Boston Celtics, in particular LeBron’s performance in games 5 & 6, were because his teammate Delonte West was tapping his momma and LeBron found out about it the day of the game.
LeBron’s performance in game 5 was so lethargic and unlike him, so of course everyone starting to speculate as to what was wrong with “The King”. Forget the elbow. Forget that his teammates played like Betty White. Forget that the Celtics were just the better team. The only thing that made sense was that LeBron’s performance had to be the result of someone close to him planting flowers in his mother “secret garden”. And that gardener happened to be his teammate. And that teammate happened to be Desparado.
If this rumor is true, I can see why LeBron had those bad performances. Because no matter how great of a professional you are, how can someone shake the fact that your mom is getting busy with your teammate, someone that you will have to pass the ball to all game long?
Well anyway, LeBron’s lawyer sent a cease and desist email to the website that started or confirmed this rumor, completely denying the scandal.
TMZ obtained a copy of the email sent to terezowens.com — the sports blog that first reported on Friday that LeBron’s mother Gloria was allegedly sleeping with Delonte. In the email, Frederick Nance — attorney for LeBron and Gloria — says the report is “categorically false and per se defamatory.” Nance adds, “No thinking person could possibly believe such rubbish.”
The report — which also spread as a viral email — was supposed to explain the Cleveland Cavaliers’ playoff loss to the Boston Celtics with this theory: LeBron finds out about Delonte and his mom before game 4 … Cavs go on to lose games 4, 5, and 6.
The guys at terezowens tell us, “We think it’s a little fishy that they waited almost 4 days to fire this off.” They say they stand by their source, and they’re consulting with their lawyers. The story is still up on their site … for now.
You can read the full cease and desist email below:
Mr. Owens. I am the attorney for Gloria and LeBron James. I am writing to demand that you Cease and Desist in repeating the lies you have been instrumental in spreading regarding Gloria James. They are categorically false and per se defamatory. If you do not understand the legal significance of those facts, I strongly urge you to consult you legal counsel.
At first blush, your irresponsible speculation about what might have contributed to the Cavaliers performance in the Boston series was so idiotic and “off the wall” that we did not think that it even warranted a denial. No thinking person could possibly believe such rubbish. But you have persisted in repeating this nonsense, attributing it to an unidentified source all for your own personal gain. We demand that you immediately stop publishing or in any way repeating these false, despicable and per se defamatory statements. [Source]
Who knows if these rumors are true or not? For LeBron’s sake, I hope it’s not but all it does is add fuel to the long running ESPN soap opera called “Is LeBron Leaving?”
