Forget cheaper teeth whitening or yoga classes. Discounted tuition is the latest Groupon deal.
The group coupon site has partnered with National Louis University in Chicago to offer a reduced rate for an introductory graduate level teaching course. While Groupon has offered language and fitness classes before, it is the site’s first time for a tuition deal worth academic credits.
In an effort to bolster interest in its graduate teaching program, National Louis University will offer would-be teachers a Groupon for nearly 60% off tuition of an entry-level graduate teaching course.
The chance to buy the coupon started Tuesday and ends Friday, and will discount the cost of the three-credit introductory course from $2,232 to $950.
The offer is open to as many as 25 buyers, who must possess an undergraduate degree to participate.
However, students will need to complete another 33 credits at full price to earn a graduate degree.
Only time will tell if other schools will follow in NLU’s footsteps. I only wish that Groupon was around for me to utilize and save. Then maybe I wouldn’t still be paying off these student loans.
