Show of hands, how many of you guys and gals reading this played those Mario Bros games back when you were a kid on Nintendo?
Everybody? Great! Now keep your hands up if by playing any of those Mario games helped turn you into some type of crazed, deranged, fur loving, and animal killing machine?
Where did all of the hands go?
Ladies and gents, this pretty much sums up Peta’s latest effort to “help” all animals throughout the land by accusing the Nintendo corporation of pushing their fur loving agenda to children, through its most succesful franchise, Super Mario Bros.
Nintendo just released its latest Mario game called Super Mario 3D Land, and in it Mario dons a racoon suit, which obviously would be very furry in nature. The suit’s fur is technically of a Tanooki, which is a Japanese Raccoon dog. This game isn’t the first time that Mario has wore the suit. Mario first wore a Tanooki in 1988 with the release of Super Mario Bros. 3 for the Nintendo Entertainment System. Why it took PETA 23 years to come after Mario? Who knows?
When Mario wears this suit, it gives him the ability to fly for whatever reason. But regardless, this raccoon suit is perhaps the coolest accessory that Mario is able to obtain, besides the mushroom that makes him bigger, throughout the entire franchise.
Peta doesn’t see it that way. Since the game launched this past Sunday, the organization has launched a online campaign entitled “Mario Kills Tanooki.”
Is PETA taking this thing too far? Please discuss.
