The DASH Diet ranked top during a recent poll carried out by the US News, to find out the nation’s list of top 25 diets. The diet beat other popular weight loss plans such as the Paleo and Dukan diets to snag the top position.
The list was compiled using information provided by a panel of health experts, with the TLC diet and Weight Watchers taking the 2nd and 3rd rankings respectively.
The DASH diet was initially recommended to people suffering from high blood pressure, and it was spear headed by the Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension (DASH) Institute of Health. Individuals on the plan are put on a high fiber diet accompanied by low dairy intake and increased consumption of vegetables as well as grains.
