If you are a customer with AT&T and have the unlimited data plan, you may soon see a reduction in your data speeds. Due to the high demands and limited network capacity, the cell phone company will be adding a speed cap.
Now what does that mean for you? If you go over 3GB a month, your cell phone data speed will be reduced greatly.
The second largest U.S wireless carrier is betting on people switching to the more expensive plans to handle all their data needs.
Who will be affected the most? The long-term existing customers of AT&T, who have the unlimited plan. New customers may not see this happening with their service seeing the fact they will be obligated to buy a plan within the new tiers of AT&T. No more unlimited data plans for the company. As of January the company even went as far as to add an additional $5 to their tiered plans.
For 3GB of data month, you are looking at spending $30 and for $5GB you are looking at spending $50 for data in the tiered plans. For that much money extra, you can switch carriers and get a better deal.
