On Tuesday, BET announced the nominees for their 2013 awards show at a live press conference in Los Angeles with appearances by Chris Tucker, Chris Brown, Kendrick Lamar, and Tamar Braxton. The conference was hosted by Stephen G. Hill, BET Networks’ President of Music Programming and Specials.
Drake dominates the nominations, receiving 12 at this year’s show. The “Girls Love Beyonce” rapper is nominated five times in one category alone, the Video of the Year, which includes his own singles “Started From the Bottom,” “HYFR,” and collaborations with 2 Chainz, A$AP Rocky, and Kendrick Lamar.
Kendrick Lamar and 2 Chainz both scored eight nominations, A$AP Rocky received five, and Miguel received 4.
Rihanna, Justin Timberlake, and Kanye West got three nominations each.
Chris Tucker will host the show, with performances by Chris Brown and R. Kelly. The ceremony will take place at the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles. Don’t forget to tune in when the show will air live on Sunday, June 30.
