Jourdan Dunn as well as her friends and fellow supermodels have been extremely vocal about their struggles and frustrations being brown girls in the fashion industry ranging from racist encounters with make up artists to being turned away because of the color of their skin and sadly there isn’t a shortage of these unfortunate stories.
The supermodel once again shared her grievances by insisting that she is not happy with being the only Black Model and insisted that the Designers should not be too contented.
On her latest interview with the issue of Miss Vogue, the 23-year-old beauty was quoted saying she doesn’t know why people applaud designers for having just one ethnic model as she agreed that there is lack of diversity within the fashion industry and although according to research the numbers are getting better but it’s not time to celebrate quite yet.
“I find it weird when [model] agents say, ‘You’re the only black girl booked for the show. Isn’t it great?’ Why is it great?” she adds.
Hopefully the supermodel concerns will be addressed by the Diversity Coalition’s campaign which seeks to solve fashion’s diversity problem.
