Kevin Durant has partnered with the KIND For STRONG KIND Campaign along with his Oklahoma City Thunder squad.
According to a press release The Kevin Durant Charity Foundation and KIND are trying to promote kindness as a show of strength and good character towards at risk youth, hoping that 1 million people will take the “Strong and Kind pledge” in support of KIND’s $1 million donation to his charity.
Durant, the NBA’s leading scorer this season and a five-time NBA All-Star, was quoted saying “Kindness can sometimes be mistaken for weakness, but I want to change that perception. The reality is that it takes a lot of strength to be kind.” he also said “As a pro athlete, I know it can be easy to focus on trash talk and negativity.”
Daniel Lubetzky the founder and CEO of KIND explained that people don’t associate strength with kindness but as it stands the two are integrally connected.
At KIND, we believe that it takes courage to go outside your comfort zone and do something kind, particularly when you need to stand up for someone else. Kevin exemplifies this on a daily basis. With this movement, we hope to start a conversation about how it’s strong to be kind.” he said
