The Miami Marlins’ young superstar was hit to his jaw during a game with the Brewers in Milwaukee and was forced to be taken off the field by a stretcher after he was diagnosed with facial fractures and dental damage on Thursday night.
Stanton leads the majors with 105 RBIs and has a National League-leading 37 home runs maybe done for the season after the assessment of the injury in a statement made by Marlins Manager Mike Redmond after the game.
The game was further interrupted by a wave of emotions when Stanton’s replacement, Reed Johnson, was hit on the hand by Fiers on the next pitch, and umpires determined that Johnson had swung at that pitch. That conclusion was not taken well by on-deck hitter Casey McGehee and he together with other Marlins’ yell at umpires for making such a conclusion.
Benches cleared as angry Marlins joined Fiers on the pitch and although no punches were thrown McGehee, and Marlins manager Mike Redmond were ejected.
