World renowned musician, Prince, was a no-show at Jay Z’s Tidal charity concert in New York on Tuesday night.
Prince had previously committed to being among the headliners for the event when the lineup was announced last month. Apparently the artist has since then decided against participating and no clear reason has been issued by him or his representatives.
Sources tell Pitchfork.com that Prince did not take the stage at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn on Tuesday, when Usher, Beyonce, Jay Z, Nick Jonas, Nicki Minaj, T.I. and Lil Wayne, among many other artists, all of which did perform.
Not only have Prince’s representatives not yet commented on his absence they also have not issued a statement explaining why he didn’t show.
At the time of Prince’s most current album release, HitNRun on September 15th, he supported the Tidal music streaming app. He pulled his music from all other streaming sites and released it exclusively on Tidal. Jay Z has suffered some backlash in recent months regarding the streaming app. It requires subscription fees but was initially presented as being a free app, which should have been provided by Spotify.
