”The House” is an upcoming comedy film featuring established comedy actors Will Ferrell and Amy Poehler. The film has now been given a prime time summer release date of June 02 2017, which implies the studio has confidence in the films potential.
The confidence is well founded given the two main stars track records. Ferrell has become a legend amongst comedy fans for films such as ”Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy”, ”Step Brothers”, ”The Other Guys” and the festive favourite ”Elf”. Poehler has recently been seen as one of the main voice talents in Pixar’s outstanding ”Inside Out”, with other credits including the TV series ”Parks and Recreation” alongside Chris Pratt, ”Wet Hot American Summer: The First Day of Camp”, ”Mean Girls”, and ”Blades of Glory” alongside Ferrell.
”The House” is both written and directed by Andrew J. Cohen and co written by Brendan O’ Brien who have previously written both ”Bad Neighbours” films together. Cohen has worked in production on comedy films such as ”The 40 Year Old Virgin” and ”Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby” working with Ferrell on the latter.
”The House” tells the story of a Dad (Ferrell) who convinces his friends to start an illegal casino in his basement when he and his wife spend his daughters college fund. The film is also set to start Fargo cast member Allison Tolman, recently seen in Joel Edgerton’s sinister thriller The Gift, and Ryan Simpkins who has previously starred in ”A Single Man” and ”Revolutionary Road”.
Ferrell is set to produce ”The House” alongside Adam McKay who has recently hit the news as a potential scribe for the sequel to Ant-Man, Ant-Man and the Wasp. McKay was a writer on previous Ferrell films such as ”Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy” and ”Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues”, ”Stepbrothers”, ”Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby”. Given previous results, the team behind ”The House” instil a confidence that may be their downfall. There is a lot to live up to in that team, which makes the potential fall even higher.
Good Universe will be releasing ”The House” on the 02 June 2017.
