Musical extravaganza ”Pitch Perfect” enamoured numerous cinema goers and transcended the typical audience with fans spreading across all demographics. Now, writer Kay Cannon is set to direct her directorial debut with film ”The Pact”.
Cannon began her career working as a writer and producer on Emmy Award nominated comedy series 30 Rock alongside Tina Fey, as well as an executive producer on the comedy film Baby Mama, which also starred Tina Fey. She then began working on the comedy series New Girl, starring Zooey Deschanel whilst penning the musical comedy films Pitch Perfect and Pitch Perfect 2.
”The Pact” is set to be a comedy that follows three parents who discover that their daughters have made a pact to lose their virginities on prom night. their mission, which they whole heartedly accept, is to scupper those plans before it’s too late.
The production team will consist of Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg and James Weaver, the production team behind ”Bad Neighbours” and ”50/50”, under their production banner Point Grey. Further producers will include John Hurwitz (writer behind a number of Harold and Kumar films), Hayden Schlossberg (Harold and Kumar writer and ”American Pie Reunion” writer) and Chris Fenton (executive producer on ”47 Ronin”) with Nathan Kahane, Joe Drake (executive producers on ”Juno”, ”50/50” and ”Bad Neighbours”), and Chris Cowles (producer on ”The Vatican Tapes”) on board as executive producers.
There is currently no date set for the release of ”The Pact”, however Cannon has been confirmed as the writer for ”Pitch Perfect 3” which is due out in August 2017. The Pitch Perfect franchise has currently grossed $400 million worldwide.
